Patient Authorization Liaison

Position Title: Authorization Specialist
Overview: The Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in collaborating with Aveanna Healthcare's clinical and administrative teams, patients, and insurance providers to secure optimal reimbursement for the services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the patient insurance authorization process for services requested by clinical staff.
- Initiate contact with insurance carriers upon receiving service requests from the clinical team.
- Proactively engage with insurance providers to ensure timely receipt of all necessary information for payment.
- Advise the clinical team on updates regarding insurance reimbursement practices related to authorization.
- Ensure that all submissions are complete and contain all required information.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the clinical team throughout the authorization process, providing timely updates on the status of requests.
- Educate patients about their insurance coverage and available payment options.
- Report any potential issues that may lead to lapses in authorization to management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
- Adhere to confidentiality standards and maintain professional boundaries.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact effectively with various departments and teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to sit and navigate stairs.
- Must possess visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to utilize senses of smell and touch.
Work Environment: This position is performed in an office setting during standard operating hours, with potential exposure to various conditions.
