Position Title: Authorization Specialist

Job Overview: The Authorization Specialist collaborates closely with Aveanna Healthcare's clinical and administrative teams, patients, and insurance providers to facilitate optimal reimbursement for the services rendered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the patient insurance authorization workflow for requested services.
  • Initiate contact with insurance carriers following information receipt from the clinical team regarding pre-certification and authorization needs.
  • Engage proactively with insurance providers to ensure timely receipt of all necessary information for payment processing.
  • Advise the clinical team on any modifications in reimbursement practices by insurance companies that may affect the authorization process.
  • Ensure all submissions are comprehensive and include all required documentation.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the clinical team throughout the authorization process, providing updates on the status of service requests.
  • Educate patients about their insurance coverage and available payment options.
  • Report any potential issues that could lead to lapses in authorization to management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.

  • Adherence to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proven capacity to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage collaboratively with various departments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
  • Must be capable of sitting and climbing stairs.
  • Visual and auditory acuity is necessary.
  • Must possess a strong sense of smell and touch.
