Veterinary Technology Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Veterinary Technology Instructor to join our faculty team at Foothill College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching veterinary technology students in various subjects, including anatomy and physiology, radiology, nursing skills, and pharmacology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary technology, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities- Teach veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings, emphasizing critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.
- Demonstrate competency and comfortability teaching lecture and hands-on lab courses with live animals.
- Oversee animal care, including evaluation of program animals, day-to-day husbandry, and student supervision.
- Participate in program-specific committees and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and evaluate curricula, maintain scheduled office hours, and attend department and division meetings.
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program and a valid California State license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
- Minimum 6 years of in-clinic experience ending within the past two years.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- Experience teaching veterinary technology students.
- Strong background in veterinary technology and excellent teaching skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in an indoor office environment and have the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. The position requires regular bending, kneeling, or crouching, and lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs.
