The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is seeking a highly qualified and experienced veterinary professional to join our faculty team as an Instructor/Veterinarian, Veterinarian Technologies, Foothill College. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with a starting date of Summer 2024.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for teaching veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings, with a focus on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to implement multiple active learning strategies.
Responsibilities- Teach veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings, with a focus on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.
- Develop and evaluate curricula, maintain scheduled office hours, and attend department and division meetings.
- Participate in campus extra-curricular activities and outreach, and serve on district and college committees as needed.
- Oversee care of all program animals, including creating protocols and providing preventative care.
- Respond to health or behavioral concerns from students, faculty, or members of the public, and create action plans to address/treat the concerns.
- Valid California State license as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor (DVM or VMD).
- Minimum 6 years of in-clinic experience ending within the past two years.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
The successful candidate will work in an indoor, office environment, with regular standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs is also required.
