We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Veterinary Technology Instructor to join our faculty team at Foothill College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings, with a focus on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.
Key Responsibilities- Teach veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings, with a focus on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.
- Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of veterinary technology students.
- Oversee animal care, including the evaluation of program animals, day-to-day husbandry, and student communications regarding animal wellbeing.
- Participate in program-specific committees and regulatory compliance, including the Advisory Board, IACUC, USDA, CVTEA, and California VMB.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop critical thinking skills in students using multiple modalities in teaching.
- Graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program and a valid California State license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
- Minimum 6 years of in-clinic experience ending within the past two years.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- Experience teaching veterinary technology students in lecture and laboratory settings.
- Ability to implement multiple active learning strategies and positively interact with a diverse student population using a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion lens.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in an indoor, office environment with regular standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs is also required.
