Job Summary

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a key member of the executive leadership team at Children's Bureau, responsible for leading the organization's philanthropic fundraising efforts. This strategic leader will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve the agency's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve the agency's goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners to secure significant funding for the organization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of annual fundraising campaigns, including major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to identify and prioritize fundraising opportunities and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Manage a team of fundraising professionals to ensure effective execution of fundraising plans and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of philanthropy within the organization, inspiring and motivating staff to engage in fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees to build relationships, identify fundraising opportunities, and secure support for the organization's mission.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for fundraising efforts, ensuring effective use of resources and achieving fundraising goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, non-profit management, or philanthropy.
  • 8-10 years of professional fundraising experience, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts and leading comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience working with a volunteer-driven, community-based organization and a deep passion for the mission and values of Children's Bureau.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with donors, staff, and board members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and proactive leadership style.
  • Experience with fundraising software and technology, including donor management systems and online fundraising platforms.
