ABOUT THE AUDITOR-CONTROLLER'S OFFICE
The Auditor-Controller's Office is responsible for overseeing the financial records and accounts of various departments and agencies under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors. This office sets accounting standards, collaborates with county management to identify fiscal opportunities, and manages the comprehensive county accounting system.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Solano County Auditor-Controller's Office is looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills to join the Property Tax Division as an entry-level Accountant-Auditor.
The Property Tax Division is tasked with managing the county's property tax distribution system, ensuring compliance with relevant laws while allocating property taxes, special assessments, and bond payments to local entities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gain knowledge of California property tax regulations, including special assessments and voter-approved debts.
- Understand the intricacies of property tax laws and assist the public with inquiries.
- Utilize the automated county property tax system for assigned tasks.
- Contribute to the preparation of detailed financial reports and various state documentation.
- Distribute property taxes, special assessments, and bond payments across multiple funds and agencies.
- Analyze complex reports and fiscal issues related to cost accounting and legal research.
- Conduct analytical reviews of costs and financial data, learning to prepare intricate adjusting entries.
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in business administration, accounting, auditing, finance, or a closely related field is mandatory. Coursework must include a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants will undergo a comprehensive selection process, which may include application screening, written assessments, and interviews. A minimum score of 70% is necessary to progress in the selection process.
