Salary
  • Support Salary Scale Grade S10: $26.27 per hour; starting
Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act, this position is non-exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.

Role Overview
The Surveillance Systems Specialist is responsible for the upkeep, installation, and enhancement of security camera systems within our facilities. This role involves collaboration with various technical security functions as required and reports directly to the Director of Safety & Emergency Management Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install new surveillance systems (CCTV), including recording devices, cameras, monitors, and associated peripherals.
  • Provide training to staff on the operation of surveillance systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and necessary repairs on surveillance equipment within our facilities, acting as a liaison with vendors regarding warranty matters.
  • Foster and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues, administrative personnel, school staff, and local regulatory and safety officials.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Service Division staff.
  • Respond to service requests; perform diagnostic tests and repairs in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Report any security breaches or compromised systems to the Director of Safety & Emergency Management Department.
  • Document and preserve footage of security incidents.
  • Maintain an inventory of repair parts and order replacements as necessary.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to stay updated on industry standards.
  • Assist with additional technical security functions as assigned.
  • Exhibit regular and predictable attendance.

Required Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in CCTV installation and maintenance.
Certification/License
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift/carry up to 25 lbs. or more.
  • Capability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to handle and manipulate objects and use office technology.
  • Mobility to navigate the work area.
  • Vision to read and comprehend printed materials and identify objects.
  • Hearing to understand conversations in person and on the phone, as well as distinguish sounds from a distance.
  • Occasional climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Work Environment
Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment with computers, printers, and telephones; regular conversations within offices, cubicles, hallways, and conference rooms.

  • Experience in Security and Emergency Management.
  • Familiarity with the policies, goals, and programs of the Frederick County Public Schools.
  • Experience with various CCTV software programs and equipment.
  • Experience with access control software and systems.
