Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Director of Research Administration Services (RAS), the Post-Award Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all personnel engaged in post-award functions for the sponsored projects research portfolio within their designated department, division, or school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the distribution of workloads and reallocates tasks as necessary.
- Provides direction and support to team members as needed.
- Coaches staff for professional growth and development.
- May assist with pre-award tasks to support the RAS unit.
- Understands and implements federal and institutional regulations concerning effort allocation for individuals compensated fully or partially by federal grants.
- Applies cost principles and regulations to federally funded initiatives.
- Evaluates data and draws informed conclusions.
- Ensures high-quality customer service to faculty and departments served.
- Addresses concerns that breach performance standards or terms of RAS performance agreements, both internally and with faculty or departments.
- Conducts post-award tasks including award setup in PeopleSoft, issuing eNOAs, establishing payroll distributions, requesting subcontracts, collaborating with other institutions, obtaining approvals for and issuing Provisional Account Numbers (PANs), monitoring award budgets and expenditures, preparing financial reports for Principal Investigators, managing no-cost extension requests, preparing CAS exceptions for approval, submitting journals and RSTs, reviewing subcontracts and related purchase orders, preparing interim Financial Status Reports for sponsors, clearing suspense accounts, reviewing effort reports and facilitating certification processes, preparing final Financial Status Reports for sponsors, and ensuring proper closure of awards, including requesting SmartKey inactivation.
- Collaborates with the Pre-Award team lead to organize inter-team meetings to enhance cooperation between pre-award and post-award teams.
- Performs additional related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree along with five years of relevant experience in grants and contracts management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with federal regulations and guidelines related to research grants and/or contracts, with a specific focus on post-award management processes across various sponsoring entities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
