Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Administrator II to join our team at Emory University. This role will be responsible for managing post-award activities within a Research Administration Services (RAS) unit, supporting an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage post-award activities, including regular review, reconciliation, and projection of award finances, preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets, and preparing financial reports.
  • Interact regularly with faculty members conducting sponsored research, providing high-quality customer service and ensuring adherence to quality standards and all policies and award regulations.
  • Work with post-award specialists to solve problems, answer questions, and give guidance on post-award activities and other grants management topics.
  • Define account establishment parameters, including billing and reporting requirements, budget, and cost-sharing obligations, upon award acceptance.
  • Set up awards in the financial system, distribute award information to PIs, co-PIs, and relevant staff, and coordinate with relevant individuals to make adjustments to payroll for all budgeted positions.
  • Review and reconcile award expenditures and budgets, making adjustments as necessary, and project and forecast future award expenditures.
  • Manage budget, reporting, and compliance timelines through the lifecycle of the grant or contract, and communicate with PIs on a regular basis regarding budget and expense adjustments and revisions.
  • Complete financial reports to be sent to sponsors, as required by the award terms and conditions, and monitor compliance with agency and University regulations regarding reporting.
  • Assist PIs with non-financial report submissions, as necessary, and coordinate and submit requests for No Cost Extensions, Carryover, rebudgeting requests, changes in scope, and other changes to the award.
  • Facilitate the approval of invoices to pay subcontractors, review effort reports, and manage quarterly effort certification process for assigned units.
  • Apply federal and university rules to management of effort allocation appropriately for individuals compensated whole or in part from federal awards, and assist in transferring awards out of the university.
  • Closely out all funded projects consistent with university process and timelines, and perform related responsibilities as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to grants and contracts management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations/ terms and conditions relating to research grant and/or contract activity.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite software, and knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financial System preferred.
