Job Summary

Under general direction, performs functions related to front desk activities, including scheduling appointments, registration, billing functions, insurance authorizations, phone communications, data entry into Epic/Mosaiq data systems, filing, scanning, and retrieving medical records, faxing, copying, and collating correspondence. The office assistant performs responsibilities in accordance with departmental procedures to ensure efficient front desk operations, which embody our service-oriented philosophy and promote patient/customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions
  • Greet and register patients, answer and direct phone calls, verify patient demographic and insurance information, update computer files.
  • Preparation of clinical forms needed for new patient consults & follow-up appointments.
  • Schedule patient appointments, and coordinate appointments between physicians, residents, physicists, and technicians, as needed.
  • Demonstrates competence in computer applications such as Epic, Mosaiq, and Microsoft applications.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to incorporate Corewell Health standards while providing service to patients, colleagues, other departments, and physician offices.
  • Copies/collates/staples/faxes/scans documents and correspondence for clinical staff delivery of patient care in the electronic medical record; Epic and Mosaiq.
  • Prepares medical record for release, in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Participates in departmental special projects.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 1 year of relevant experience 1-2 years in a clinical office setting.
