Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join our team at Lancaster General. As a Geriatric Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, ensuring accurate and timely registration and verification of patient information.
  • Registration and Insurance Verification: Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and account information, and perform required referral/authorization processes.
  • Order Release and Record Management: Prepare and release medical records, orders, and other documents in the electronic health record, and ensure accurate and timely scanning of documents.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, guests, and healthcare providers, responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and escalating complex concerns to supervisors as needed.
  • Point of Service Collections: Collect patient obligations, understand and support Point of Service Collections, and perform all necessary functions to collect patient payments.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience: One (1) year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization
  • Skills: Basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration Experience: One (1) year of registration experience, point of service collection, insurance validation, understanding of compliance/regulatory guidelines, and order release process(es)
  • Revenue Cycle Experience: One (1) year prior experience of Revenue Cycle in a Hospital/Medical Office Setting
  • Electronic Medical Record Experience: Previous Epic or equivalent Electronic Medical Record experience
