Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the VP of Operations-CLH/PPP Pathology, collaborating with pathologists and departmental leaders to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate future staffing and equipment requirements, continuously monitoring budget variances.
  • Maintain and update procedure manuals for all standard operating procedures across CLH/PPP Pathology divisions.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including scheduling, leave management, conflict resolution, and training initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards set by CAP, CLIA, and the Joint Commission.
  • Exhibit independent judgment and creativity in decision-making processes.
  • Complete projects efficiently while fostering a motivated and skilled pathology team.
  • Stay updated with advancements in laboratory technology and management practices.
  • Assess the quality of care and services provided, along with the competency and educational needs of staff.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, developing and implementing departmental policies and objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability to organizational changes.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to enhance vendor contracts and equipment utilization.
  • Support the Billing Department to reduce claim rejections and ensure accuracy in billing practices.
  • Act as a resource for pathology team members regarding coding, quality control, and accreditation readiness.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and optimize subspecialty recruitment and interviews.
  • Research and respond to business opportunities relevant to pathology services.
  • Uphold confidentiality, safety, and compliance with legal standards.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and adhere to company attendance policies.
  • Implement and follow CLH/PPP Employee Guidelines and Compliance Policies.
  • Safeguard patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Monitor financial performance to align with company objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a clinical laboratory environment, with at least three years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Familiarity with Histology, Cytology, Gross Pathology, and related instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards, as well as relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Preferred certification as a Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, or Pathologist Assistant.
  • Valid State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist, Cytotechnologist, or Histotechnologist is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and clinical instrumentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Competency in computer applications, including Word and Excel, and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and ongoing compliance with testing requirements.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with computer literacy.
