Position Overview:
As a key leader in our organization, you will oversee the daily functions of our pathology operations, ensuring excellence in service delivery and patient care. Your leadership will drive the performance of our team, fostering a culture of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations to assess staffing and equipment needs, while continuously monitoring budget variances.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures across all pathology divisions to reflect the latest methodologies.
  • Manage administrative functions including scheduling, conflict resolution, and staff training, as directed by the VP of Operations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards set by CAP, CLIA, and the Joint Commission.
  • Exhibit strong decision-making skills and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Complete projects efficiently while developing and mentoring your pathology team.
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and management practices.
  • Evaluate service delivery, staffing levels, and training needs for all personnel.
  • Communicate effectively, developing and implementing departmental policies and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability to organizational changes.
  • Work with procurement to enhance vendor contracts and equipment usage.
  • Support the Billing Department to ensure accurate claims processing.
  • Act as a resource for the pathology team regarding coding and compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all safety and legal standards.
  • Monitor financial performance to align with company goals.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a clinical laboratory environment, with at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with histology, cytology, and pathology principles and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and state laws pertaining to pathology.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, or similar is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory information systems.
