Position Details:
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Employment Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: TBD
Annual Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 D.O.E.
In this position, your duties will include:
- Evaluating future staffing and equipment requirements while continuously monitoring budget variances.
- Ensuring that all standard operating procedures are current and reflect the latest methodologies.
- Managing administrative functions, including scheduling, leave oversight, conflict resolution, and staff training.
- Guaranteeing compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including CAP, CLIA, and the Joint Commission.
- Exercising independent judgment and creativity in decision-making processes.
- Completing projects efficiently while fostering a motivated and skilled pathology team.
- Staying updated with advancements in laboratory technology and management practices.
- Assessing service quality, staffing adequacy, and employee training needs.
- Communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats, while developing departmental policies and objectives.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adapting to organizational changes.
- Collaborating with the Purchasing Department to enhance vendor contracts and equipment procurement.
- Supporting the Billing Department to ensure accurate claims processing.
- Providing guidance to pathology team members on coding and quality control activities.
- Maintaining optimal staffing levels and participating in recruitment efforts.
- Researching and responding to business opportunities relevant to pathology.
- Upholding confidentiality and compliance with legal standards.
- Maintaining consistent attendance and adhering to company policies.
- Implementing and following employee guidelines and compliance policies.
- Ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Monitoring financial performance to align with company goals.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a clinical laboratory environment, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Familiarity with Histology, Cytology, Gross Pathology, and related instrumentation.
- Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards, as well as relevant state and federal regulations.
- Preferred current certification as a Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, or Pathologist Assistant.
- Valid State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist, Cytotechnologist, or Histotechnologist is preferred.
- Understanding of laboratory operations and clinical instrumentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Word and Excel, as well as laboratory information systems.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and comply with ongoing testing requirements.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
Additional Considerations:
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting and a minimum of three years in a supervisory or management capacity is advantageous.
