Construction Cost Analyst

MH Williams Construction Group, Inc. is in search of a skilled Cost Analyst with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. The selected candidate will engage in a variety of tasks that facilitate field operations. A proactive mindset, professional demeanor, and strong multitasking abilities are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

Bid Management

  • Prepare and oversee the status of plan reproduction.
  • Establish and maintain communication with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Conduct thorough material take-offs.
  • Interpret and comprehend project specifications.
  • Compile subcontractor bid packages.
  • Disseminate addenda and other bidding information to subcontractors.
  • Exhibit creativity and resourcefulness to secure favorable pricing from subcontractors.
  • Ensure 100% submission of bids and budgets by the specified deadline.
  • Input all pertinent information into the estimating software.

Project Insight

  • Meticulously review bid requirements and pose follow-up inquiries.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the scope for specific trades.
  • Generate RFIs and clarifications, ensuring timely and accurate communication among all involved parties.
  • Conduct a thorough "bid day" analysis and scoping for assigned trades.
  • Identify suitable subcontractors based on project size and scope.
  • Create bid lists that align with the job's requirements, ensuring the selection of appropriate subcontractors.
  • Minimize exclusions in the bidding process.
  • Propose value-engineering concepts for every bid.

Project Handover

  • Timely transfer bid documents and subcontract buyout information to Project Management, aiming for 100% turnover of awarded projects within 24 hours of notification.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to review drawings and highlight any areas of concern.
  • Discuss job costs with the Project Management team, identifying any subcontractors or material vendors that require awarding.
  • Complete the project kick-off form to ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of estimating experience.
  • Capable of assembling detailed and precise cost estimates with varying levels of information.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities.
  • Adept at effectively interfacing with clients.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in multitasking.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Experienced with Construction Estimating Software.
  • A degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
