Job Overview

Position Summary
The New Program and Product Introduction Buyer plays a crucial role in the procurement process, focusing on the identification, selection, and development of suppliers to support strategic initiatives. This position is integral to the sourcing activities throughout the design and development phases of both new and existing medical devices and their components. The NPI Buyer must demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with both internal project teams and external vendors, necessitating strong multitasking abilities to ensure the successful completion of all project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the selection, qualification, and development of suppliers.
  • Request quotes and procure necessary components, services, and equipment for designated projects.
  • Cultivate robust relationships with suppliers to guarantee quality and timely delivery at competitive costs.
  • Establish and refine purchasing and planning metrics, including lead times, minimum order quantities, and pricing tiers.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure alignment with design specifications and production objectives.
  • Analyze material requirements planning (MRP) data to confirm accurate demand and place orders for inventory components promptly.
  • Facilitate the transition of production-ready suppliers and services to the sustaining procurement team.
  • Act as a key sourcing and supply chain resource for project teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to review new item specifications, ensuring adherence to financial, inventory, and procurement standards.
  • Adhere to company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management or medical device manufacturing, with a proven track record in sourcing.
  • Experience in supply chain development, management, and enhancement.
  • Proven ability to foster and improve supplier relationships.
  • Experience in technical sourcing that has led to enhancements in quality, delivery, cost, and inventory turnover.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and requirements.
  • Familiarity with Medical Device, ASIC, PCBA, and related supply chains is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, as well as ERP and QMS systems.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 procedures is preferred.

Work Environment
The role is primarily office-based, with a moderate noise level typical of a standard office setting.
