Job Overview:

As a pivotal member of our finance team, the Cost Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a crucial role in cost and management accounting, financial reporting, and analysis. This position is integral to the month-end financial closing process and audit preparations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management: Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate reconciliations between physical counts, perpetual records, and the general ledger. This includes journal entries, audit explanations, and standard cost assessments.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of the annual standard cost roll.
  • Manage the development of annual labor and overhead rates.
  • Establish standard costs for new components and conduct thorough reviews and analyses of existing standard costs.
  • Prepare and analyze warranty costs and reserves, as well as E & O reserves.
  • Analyze the purchase price variance within the general ledger.
  • Conduct audits of cycle count activities and collaborate with the materials team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and research sales and gross margin reporting at the customer and product levels.
  • Assist in the annual financial planning and budgeting processes.
  • Report on labor and expenditures related to engineering projects.
  • Provide cost support to various cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of product cost data.
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses as required.
General Accounting:
  • Prepare account reconciliations and conduct monthly closing activities, including journal entry preparation.
  • Support other finance roles as necessary.
  • Assist the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team when required.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Assist in SOX compliance audits, as well as internal and external audits.
  • Document work instructions for all relevant processes and tasks.
Financial Systems Management:
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the SAP system, including general ledger and cost accounting data.
  • Develop financial reporting utilizing various financial systems such as HFM, One Stream, and SAP.
Bid Support:
  • Provide essential support for bids on new contracts.
  • Manage cost accounting requirements to assist the sales and marketing teams during the customer service sales quotation process.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HFM/One Stream is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to collaborate with individuals and teams across all organizational levels.
Education:
  • A University Degree is typically required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
