Position Role Type: Hybrid

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Cost Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting cost and management accounting, financial reporting and analysis, month-end financial closing, and audit processes. This role demands exceptional communication skills and critical thinking abilities.

This position is hybrid based in Phoenix, AZ.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP is advantageous
  • Familiarity with HFM/One Stream is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Capability to collaborate with individuals and teams across all organizational levels

Primary Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

  • Oversee inventory management, including reconciliations between physical, perpetual, and general ledger accounts, journal entries, audit explanations, and standard costs.
  • Manage the preparation and execution of annual standard cost roll.
  • Prepare annual labor and overhead rates.
  • Establish standard costs for new parts and review existing parts.
  • Analyze warranty costs and reserves.
  • Evaluate E & O reserves.
  • Examine purchase price variance in the general ledger.
  • Audit cycle count activities and support the materials group in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and analyze sales and gross margin reporting at the customer/product level.
  • Assist in annual financial planning and budgeting processes.
  • Report on labor and expenditures related to Engineering projects.
  • Provide cost support to cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of product cost data.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as required.

General Accounting:

  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Execute monthly closing activities, including journal entry preparation.
  • Support other finance roles as necessary.
  • Assist FP&A when required.

Financial Reporting/SOX Compliance:

  • Assist in SOX compliance audits and both internal and external audits.
  • Document work instructions for all processes and tasks.

Financial Systems:

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of general ledger and cost accounting data within the SAP system.
  • Develop financial reporting using financial systems (HFM, One Stream, SAP).

Bid Support:

  • Provide assistance for bids on new contracts.
  • Manage cost accounting requirements to support sales & marketing and customer service sales quotation processes.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates must be U.S. Persons/Permanent Resident Green Card holders. Only U.S. Citizen candidates will be considered.
