We are currently in search of a Project Cost Engineer to become a vital part of our team, contributing to projects on a national scale. In this capacity, you will play a key role in shaping and overseeing the financial strategy of projects. Collaborating closely with the project management team, you will manage budgets, costs, change orders, pricing requests, billings, and forecasts. Your responsibilities will include generating and maintaining comprehensive reports that provide critical insights to various stakeholders, identifying variances and risks, and ensuring adherence to quality control processes to enhance project cost management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all project disciplines to ensure a clear understanding of total project cost budgets and targets.
  • Analyze project documents and specifications to accurately identify, develop, and monitor change order requests, baseline estimates, and potential risk exposures, while effectively communicating impacts on financial targets and project timelines.
  • Work in conjunction with the accounting department to ensure accurate integration of all necessary information for billings, payment applications, change orders, and direct costs.
  • Engage closely with the project management team, executive management, subcontractors, and occasionally clients.
  • Oversee cost engineering, estimation, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for proposal estimating that necessitates a moderate level of technical expertise.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, consistency, and transparency in all cost management deliverables, while managing change effectively.
  • Take ownership of the cost control function, ensuring the integrity of cost and forecast reporting.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry is essential.
  • Familiarity with project development stages, procurement processes, project controls, and construction execution practices is necessary.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as PMWeb or similar project portfolio management software, along with data management and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Possession of a PMP certification is preferred.
