Position Overview

Role Summary: The Lead Cost Analyst will report directly to the Finance Manager and will play a pivotal role in overseeing cost and management accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as supporting the month-end financial close and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Oversight: Manage inventory processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations between physical counts, perpetual records, and the general ledger. This includes preparing journal entries, providing audit explanations, and maintaining standard costs.
  • Annual Cost Management: Lead the preparation and execution of the annual standard cost roll and the establishment of labor and overhead rates.
  • Cost Analysis: Oversee the processes for determining standard costs for new components and conducting reviews and analyses of existing parts' costs.
  • Warranty and Reserve Management: Prepare and analyze warranty costs and reserves, as well as evaluate excess and obsolete inventory reserves.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of purchase price variance accounts.
  • Inventory Audits: Audit cycle count activities and collaborate with the materials team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Sales Reporting: Prepare and analyze sales and gross margin reports at the customer and product levels.
  • Financial Planning: Assist in the annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Project Reporting: Report on labor and expenditures related to engineering projects.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide cost-related support to various departments as needed.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of product cost data.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Perform additional analyses as required.

General Accounting Duties:

  • Prepare account reconciliations and conduct monthly closing activities, including journal entry preparation.
  • Support other finance roles as necessary and assist in FP&A tasks when required.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Assist in SOX compliance audits and both internal and external audits.
  • Document work instructions for all relevant processes and tasks.

Financial Systems Management:

  • Ensure the integrity of the SAP system and the accuracy of general ledger and cost accounting data.
  • Develop financial reporting using various financial systems such as HFM, One Stream, and SAP.

Bid Support:

  • Provide assistance for bids on new contracts and manage cost accounting requirements to support the sales and marketing teams during the customer quotation process.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HFM/One Stream is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in collaborating with individuals and teams across all organizational levels.

Education Requirements:

  • A University Degree is typically required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
