POSITION TITLE: Residential Support Specialist

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

SCHEDULE: Flexible: 3:30 PM - 10:30 PM, 4 days/week; Wednesdays 12 PM - 10 PM

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Northfield, Enfield, CT

Northfield operates as a 24/7 residential facility dedicated to adults facing significant mental health challenges. Our mission is to empower individuals by teaching essential life skills and fostering healthy habits through structured group activities and personalized interactions. Our dedicated staff, along with our therapy cat, Lucy, support residents in their journey towards understanding their conditions and acquiring the skills necessary for independent living. The impact of our care extends beyond the time spent at Northfield, positively influencing the lives of our residents and their families.

ROLE SUMMARY: Residential Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide genuine hope and support to clients and their families.
  • Acquire valuable experience in a group home environment.
  • Serve as an excellent entry-level opportunity in the behavioral health sector.
Core Duties:
  • Ensure the physical environment and program adhere to established standards.
  • Build rapport and maintain a working relationship using person-centered approaches.
  • Utilize effective communication methods to relay daily events to team members.
  • Guide residents in rehabilitation areas such as nutrition, wellness, meal preparation, hygiene, and budgeting.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Facilitate educational and skill-building sessions as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Monitor residents' medications in accordance with established policies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and families to coordinate care.
  • Support residents in addressing their medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with agency standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and other assigned gatherings.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; at least one year of relevant experience is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience working with adults with serious mental health conditions in a residential or supported living context is preferred; experience in group skills teaching is also advantageous.

Licensure/Certification: CPR/First-Aid Certification is required within six months of hire. A valid driver's license is necessary.

COMPENSATION:

$18.27/hour minimum, with potential increases based on experience. Actual rates are determined at the time of offer, considering relevant experience and adherence to internal equity policies. Some positions may offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives.
