Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in the administration and management of HR policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to both federal and state employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of HR policies and programs for both unionized and non-unionized employees within the Customer Service Center or local unit.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to manage HR policies and procedures, including employee benefits, salary adjustments, and retirement plans.
  • Source, interview, and select qualified candidates for various roles, focusing on enhancing recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee relations, addressing concerns and facilitating resolutions.
  • Assist in the administration of grievance procedures as outlined in the Master National Agreement.
  • Oversee compliance with the Department of Transportation's random drug and alcohol testing protocols, along with company-specific pre-employment drug testing.
  • Support the auditing of clerical functions to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
  • Facilitate and deliver required training and development programs.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives.
  • Attend hearings related to unemployment as necessary.
  • Assist with various HR functions as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience is required.
  • One to four years of experience in human resources is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are required at all organizational levels.
  • Practical knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws is necessary.
  • A team-oriented individual with demonstrated leadership capabilities is preferred.
