Lead Oncology Social Worker Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Oncology Social Worker to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a key member of our cancer care team, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring our oncology social work staff, developing onboarding processes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and support oncology social workers in complying with regulatory bodies and assisting the program in achieving its major goals.
  2. Develop and implement educational competencies and programs, providing resources and support to oncology social workers across the network.
  3. Provide mentorship to newer staff social workers, creating and managing an orientation and training plan for new staff.
  4. Guide the Financial Toxicity Conference, assessing patients' financial toxicity, and overseeing grants and annual reports.
  5. Work closely with the Quality Department to execute patient-related quality improvement projects and programs.
  6. Act as a liaison between community health and social service agencies and medical oncology and other hospital departments.
  7. Participate in policy development and implementation, ensuring the facilitation and execution of procedures to achieve departmental goals.
  8. Review treatment processes and documentation, ensuring compliance with medical records and timeframes.
  9. Provide clinical services to patients and their caregivers, fostering a therapeutic relationship.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly organized and independent individual with excellent communication skills, capable of using sound judgment and managing projects effectively. A Master's degree in a relevant field is required, and experience in oncology social work is essential.

Working Conditions

This role requires a sedentary/light effort, with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. The working environment is generally pleasant, with little to no potential for occupational risk.
