Patient Services Coordinator

The Patient Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing essential administrative functions within a medical practice. This includes handling incoming calls, greeting patients and visitors warmly, and efficiently organizing appointment schedules.
They are responsible for overseeing patient flow during the check-in and check-out processes, managing patient registrations, processing payments, and maintaining accurate medical records.
The Front Office Medical Administrator must adhere to established protocols, ensuring that all tasks, from filing patient documents to documenting insurance information, are executed with precision, allowing the healthcare team to concentrate on delivering quality patient care.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Completion of a vocational or technical training program is preferred. Skills are typically developed through on-the-job training and orientation. Certification in Front Office Administration is advantageous.
- The ideal candidate should possess 1-3 years of experience in a medical office setting, with a preference for those who have worked in urology.
- Strong customer service skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required. Interpersonal skills must be well-developed. Proficiency in computer operations for administrative tasks and familiarity with office and EMR systems are necessary. A basic understanding of various health insurance plans and coding systems such as CPT and ICD-10 is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Internet applications, Microsoft Office Suite, email software (such as Microsoft Outlook), Electronic Health Records (EMR) systems, and Practice Management Software is vital for success in this position.
