Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at PCR Staffing. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Decommissioning: Install, maintain, and decommission network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
  • Sustainable and Repeatable Solutions: Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
  • Project Progress Feedback: Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.
  • Quality Workmanship: Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
  • Production, Safety, and Quality Standards: Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Blueprint and Documentation Reading: Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
  • Data Center Infrastructure Technologies: Broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Use of Basic Telecom Hand Tools: Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Customer Service: Must understand customer service.
  • Job Safety Requirements: Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Floor Plans Reading: Be able to read and understand floor plans.
  • Wiring Schemes and Testing: Should be familiar with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
  • Low Voltage Cable Pulling: Should be able to pull all types of low voltage cable.
  • Field Terminations and Labeling: Should understand and be capable in performing field terminations and labeling.
  • Reports and Directions: Reports to Operations Manager and take daily directions from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians, and Advance Senior Technicians.
  • Paperwork and Service Jobs: Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork, capable of running service jobs.
  • MDF and IDF Closets Layout: Possess skill to layout MDF and IDF closets, be able to dress all types of cable, and perform all types of terminations.
  • Data Centers Working: Capable of working in Data Centers.
  • Ladder Racking and Seismic Bracing: Shall be able to install ladder racking and seismic bracing both above and under raise floor.
  • Copper and Fiber Cable Testing and Troubleshooting: Basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
  • Blueprint and Design Document Reading: Read and understand blueprints and design documents.
  • Fiber Trunks Dressing and Splicing: Dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing.
  • Paperwork and Service: Maintaining orderly paperwork and running service.
  • Fusion Splice: Fusion Splice including Ribbon/Single OSP/ISP.
  • Network Equipment Installation, Connection, and Decommissioning: Install, connect, and decom network equipment.
  • Tester Operation: Operate DSX 5000 tester/OTDR Tester.
  • Tester Programming: Program testers.
  • Test Results Download and Submission: Download test results to Linkware/Linkware Live, save test results, verify, and submit to customer.
  • Mass Labels Creation and Application: Create mass labels and apply per Portmap.
  • Live Cables Differentiation: Differentiate live cables from decom cable.
  • Copper Testing and Troubleshooting: Copper testing and troubleshooting.
  • Service Swaps of Live Networking Devices: Conduct Service Swaps of live networking devices.
  • FIM Database Understanding and Operation: Understand 'FIM' database and operate scanners.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, Standing, and Bending: Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods with some sitting.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, written, visual, and listening skills.
  • Dexterity and Equipment Operation: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Lifting and Carrying Heavy Equipment: Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.
  • Cable Pulling: Ability to pull cables.
  • Ladder Climbing and Raised Platforms Working: Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
