POSITION OVERVIEW

The Critical Care Nurse is responsible for the independent planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care in complex patient scenarios, adhering to established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This role involves delivering direct nursing services to patients, along with educational and leadership duties. The nurse actively engages in collaborative decision-making, participates in unit committees, and contributes to quality enhancement initiatives, requiring minimal oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulates a care plan that incorporates strategies to achieve desired health outcomes.
  • Executes care interventions and medical directives as necessary.
  • Facilitates the coordination of care delivery.
  • Utilizes patient education to foster health and safety practices.
  • Assesses progress towards established health outcomes.
  • Upholds ethical standards in nursing practice.
  • Maintains knowledge and skills that reflect contemporary nursing practices.
  • Incorporates evidence-based research findings into clinical practice.
  • Enhances quality nursing practices and shared decision-making by supporting council resolutions and actively participating in collaborative efforts.
  • Communicates effectively across all areas of nursing practice.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities within the professional healthcare environment.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of nursing care.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year of experience in critical care nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory from an accredited organization.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is also required from an accredited organization.
