Role SummaryWe are seeking a full-time Materials Testing Technician to become an integral part of our Materials Development Team. This role is crucial within our R&D division, focusing on the evaluation of super absorbent polymer materials intended for consumer products. The successful candidate will conduct bench-top testing, maintain precise testing records, and calibrate laboratory equipment. Previous experience in a wet lab environment is highly advantageous. Ideal candidates will exhibit strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn about materials development and R&D testing.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine testing of finished products in the materials laboratory.
- Execute testing protocols as directed by scientists or researchers.
- Accurately measure weights and perform basic calculations in accordance with standard methods.
- Adhere to SOPs for material testing and product specification optimization.
- Maintain detailed records of all data in an electronic notebook for easy reference.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain chemical processing equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical personnel to troubleshoot testing issues, including product or equipment malfunctions and data interpretation.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.
- Engage with the Materials Team to foster collaboration.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- One to two years of experience in the fast-paced biotechnology sector is highly desirable.
- Experience in working with chemicals or materials in both technical production and testing roles is beneficial.
- Familiarity with preparing lab samples and testing raw materials is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic wet chemistry techniques, including density, moisture analysis, pH, viscosity, balance, and centrifuge operation, is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
- Commitment to maintaining safety, cleanliness, and organization within the laboratory.
- Genuine interest in sustainable technologies and the biotechnology sector.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs of materials regularly.
