Job Overview:

Child Protective Investigations Program Supervisor

This role is responsible for overseeing and directing program operations related to Child Protective Investigations within the designated region. Engages in advanced consultative services, technical support, and supervisory functions.

The work involves strategizing, developing, and executing agency programs while providing expert guidance and technical assistance to program personnel, governmental bodies, community organizations, and the public.

This position includes the supervision of staff members and operates with a high degree of autonomy, allowing for significant initiative and independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Manages the activities of assigned personnel, collaborating with them on program-related challenges to identify effective solutions.

Assesses team performance through case evaluations, reports, and direct observations to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and service standards.


Compiles management reports, analyses, and correspondence regarding the efficacy of program initiatives.

Develops and reviews program budgets.

Enforces program guidelines, procedures, policies, and regulations; ensures compliance with established standards.

Establishes schedules, priorities, and benchmarks for achieving objectives; monitors ongoing activities.

Contributes to the formulation of program goals and objectives.

Provides training or technical support in relevant program areas.

Selects, manages, and nurtures staff through performance evaluations, training sessions, and appraisals.

Designs and delivers presentations for stakeholders, including citizens, clients, staff, management, or elected officials.
May assist in the creation of policy and procedure documentation.
Supervises the work of others.
Engages in related tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with program planning and execution; understanding of laws and regulations concerning child care, abuse, and neglect; knowledge of child development principles and theories; awareness of community social service resources; comprehension of laws and regulations related to child and adult protective services; understanding of gerontology and the aging process; and proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and skills.

Competence in interviewing and conducting individual needs assessments.

Ability to negotiate available services, communicate effectively, and oversee the work of others.
