The Department of Child Support Services is seeking motivated individuals to join their team.
Position Overview
Public Assistance Investigators are responsible for conducting thorough investigations related to suspected fraudulent activities in public assistance applications and benefits. As sworn peace officers, they carry out law enforcement duties as defined by relevant penal codes. All roles are situated within the Department of Child Support Services.

- Comfortable conducting interviews and assessments in various settings.

- Possession of a valid Regular or Specialized Basic P.O.S.T. certificate at the time of application; OR,
- Successful completion of a California Basic P.O.S.T. Waiver Exam, with documentation from P.O.S.T.; OR
- Successful completion of a Regular Basic or Specialized Investigators' Basic Course Academy and possession of a valid Certificate of Completion; AND
2. One (1) year of full-time experience conducting criminal investigations for a law enforcement agency as a peace officer under relevant penal codes.
Conditions of Employment
As part of the pre-employment process, candidates will undergo a background check and a medical screening prior to commencing employment. Additional background investigations may be conducted based on job-related activities.
Background Investigation
Candidates must have a reputation for integrity and trustworthiness. A thorough background investigation will be conducted, which may include psychological evaluations and other assessments.
Evaluation Process
Qualified applicants will be placed on a twelve (12) month employment list based on evaluation scores. Ensure all information is complete and accurate for the automated evaluation system.
