Child Protective Investigations Program Supervisor

This role is responsible for overseeing and directing program operations associated with Child Protective Investigations within the designated region. Engages in advanced consultative services, technical support, and supervisory responsibilities.

The work entails strategizing, developing, and executing agency programs while offering consultative support and technical guidance to program personnel, governmental entities, community organizations, and the public.

Supervises the activities of team members and operates with a high degree of autonomy, utilizing initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manages the activities of assigned personnel, collaborating with staff on program-related challenges to identify effective solutions.

Assesses unit performance through case evaluations, reports, and direct observations to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and service quality standards.


Generates management reports, analyses, and correspondence regarding the efficacy of program initiatives.

Develops and reviews program budgets.

Enforces program guidelines, procedures, policies, and regulations; monitors compliance with established standards.

Establishes schedules, priorities, and benchmarks for goal achievement; oversees ongoing activities.

Contributes to the formulation of program objectives and targets.

Provides training or technical assistance in specific program areas.

Selects, mentors, and evaluates staff through performance reviews, training sessions, and appraisals.

Designs and delivers presentations for stakeholders, including citizens, clients, staff, management, or elected officials.
May assist in the creation of policy and procedure documentation.
Oversees the work of others.
Engages in related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with program planning and execution; understanding of laws and regulations concerning child welfare, abuse, and neglect; knowledge of child development theories; awareness of community social service resources; comprehension of regulations related to protective services for children and adults; insights into gerontology and aging dynamics; and proficiency in crisis intervention techniques.

Competence in conducting interviews and individual needs assessments.

Ability to negotiate available services, communicate effectively, and oversee the work of others.
