Advanced Communication Systems Engineer II

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the technical and strategic teams at CesiumAstro to prioritize and develop innovative algorithms, technologies, and methodologies to address cutting-edge challenges in wireless communications, with a strong emphasis on research, analysis, development, and testing of satellite systems.
The ideal candidate will effectively communicate with team members and internal stakeholders and will also contribute to content creation. Therefore, exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 6 years of R&D experience in space communications.
- Strong expertise in digital signal processing, statistics, linear algebra, communication theory, machine learning, and L1/L2 algorithms.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting and one programming language (preferably Python & C++) and relevant software development practices (requirement definition, version control, code review, issue tracking, etc.).
- In-depth understanding of RF concepts, impairments, and their impact on baseband processing.
- Experience with FPGA and modern vector processing engines.
- Familiarity with satellite communications standards (NR NTN, DVB-S2x, CCSDS).
- Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively within a team.
- A desire to advance research ideas to prototype stage.
- Capability to obtain a security clearance.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake additional job-related tasks as assigned by management.
- Ability to define work direction, monitor milestones, and demonstrate progress on large, open-ended projects.
- A sense of urgency and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with peers and management.
