Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Manager is accountable for the upkeep and repair of all production machinery and equipment.

Work Environment:

The working conditions are typical for a manufacturing setting. Employees may occasionally encounter extreme temperatures and elevated noise levels. The environment may also be humid or wet, and the use of chemicals is a part of the job. Responsibilities include the occasional lifting and transporting of materials and products weighing up to 40 pounds. While fulfilling job duties, employees are required to stand and utilize their hands and fingers for handling tasks. Walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may also be necessary. Driving may be required occasionally. Employees will need to operate computers, printers, telephones, copiers, and, on occasion, fax machines. Operating machinery necessitates the use of safety gear, including but not limited to eye protection and hearing protection. The use of coveralls and hairnets (and/or beard nets) is mandatory in the work area. Loose clothing and jewelry are prohibited.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all production machinery is maintained and repaired according to company standards to minimize downtime.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and oversee all personnel within the maintenance department.
  • Assist in managing Capital Projects.
  • Evaluate, develop, and prioritize project scopes.
  • Delegate tasks to department staff as necessary.
  • Procure parts and supplies for the maintenance department.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to schedule repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Plant Scheduler to develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
  • May assist in hands-on repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace that supports food safety, quality, personal safety, and operational efficiency.
  • This role is supported by the Director of Maintenance and Lead Technician positions.
  • This position serves as a backup for the Lead Technician, Director of Maintenance, and all lower-level technicians.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment managing multi-craft maintenance teams. Relevant knowledge and experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and programming repairs is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven capability to effectively interact with all levels of employees in the workplace.
  • Detail-oriented and organized individual; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and follow through effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including weekends.
