Key Responsibilities:
- Perform various tests on construction materials such as asphalt, soil, and concrete using specialized equipment
- Conduct field compaction testing, supervise paving activities, and evaluate batch plants
- Interpret construction documents to ascertain project specifications
- Ensure meticulous completion of documentation, including daily logs, test results, and timesheets
- Communicate test outcomes through mathematical calculations and graphical analysis
- Engage in effective communication with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders
- Maintain, calibrate, and adjust testing equipment as necessary
- Follow safety protocols at construction sites to uphold a secure working environment
Qualifications for Success:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
- No prior experience is necessary; candidates with limited experience are encouraged to apply as comprehensive training is provided
- Practical experience in field or laboratory testing of construction materials is preferred
- Engineering background is advantageous
- Relevant certifications such as ACI Concrete Grade I, Nuclear Gauge Safety, OSHA 10, NICET Level II or higher in Concrete, Soils, or Asphalt, and ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector are desirable
- Basic proficiency in Mathematics, Calculator, and Computer Skills
- Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and punctual candidates are sought
- Ability to understand and interpret work plans
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
- A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are essential
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull weights ranging from 30 to 50 pounds frequently, with occasional lifting of over 50 pounds with assistance
- Capacity to receive detailed auditory information and distinguish sounds
- Occasional kneeling and squatting may be required
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Occasional climbing may be necessary
