Job Description

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a skilled Transportation Resident Construction Manager to oversee construction inspection staff and ensure compliance with contract documents for Civil/Heavy-Highway construction projects with Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction inspection staff and ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, and job superintendents on matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and construction methods.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and maintain progress schedules.
  • Check contractors' quotations for variations and keep records of quantities and cost of materials used.
  • Prepare contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payment.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
  • Ensure compliance with the contractor's health and safety plan.
  • Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.
  • Check contractor's layout and verify accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire's and Owner's requirements.
  • Review and route submittals and RFIs.
  • Keep records of quantities completed for contractor payment.
  • Process Change Orders.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Follow and convey instructions.
  • Utilize computers and common office equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
  • React to hazardous warnings and signals.
  • Infrequently perform manual labor.
  • Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Limited exposure to chemicals.

Other Principal Duties:

  • Travel as required to Allegheny County work sites and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
  • Provide positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
  • Oversee inspection staff and provide direction and mentoring as required to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties which may be required, which are commensurate with the position.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
  • 10+ Years of Construction Management/Inspection experience required.

Preferred Certifications and Experience:

  • Pittsburgh Regional Transit (or Port Authority of Allegheny County) construction inspection experience.
  • NICET Level 3 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction or PE License.
  • NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products & Adobe.
  • PennDOT ECMS experience.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification.
