Position Overview

The Office of the President at a prestigious university is in search of a talented, innovative, and diligent individual to support a diverse array of communication and research initiatives on behalf of the President and Vice President. This role involves close collaboration with senior university officials to produce high-quality written materials.

This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in significant projects at the upper echelons of university administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in crafting speeches, introductions, letters, presentations, and other high-level written content, ensuring meticulous research, thorough fact-checking, and collaboration with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of the President to ensure the successful completion of writing projects.
  • Conduct research related to speaking engagements, events, strategic initiatives, and other activities.
  • Work alongside colleagues across the university to develop communications that effectively engage diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Provide on-site support at university events where the President is speaking, as needed.
  • Handle sensitive assignments with discretion, exercising sound editorial judgment while maintaining the trust of senior administrators.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all information presented in speeches, statements, and quotes attributed to the President.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and timely content on a wide range of topics related to higher education.
  • Proven ability to comprehend complex issues and distill them for key audiences.
  • Willingness to adapt to the President's writing style and respond effectively to feedback.
  • High integrity, discretion, and excellent judgment, with the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong research capabilities and attention to detail in both grammar and factual accuracy.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines and tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent copyediting and proofreading abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of professional writing experience.
  • Familiarity with the higher education sector.
  • Experience in writing for diverse audiences.

This position is a term role with potential for extension.
