About the Role

The Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (AI Lab) is seeking a skilled Communications Manager to lead the development and implementation of a communications strategy for the AI Lab, its research initiatives, and coordinate with other groups on campus about AI communications.



Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the AI Lab, aligning with institutional priorities and engaging diverse media outlets.
  • Manage AI Lab communications engagement across all platforms, including print and digital media, the AI at Princeton website, and social media.
  • Provide proactive and timely communications support to the AI Lab Director and Executive Director, drafting talking points, blogs, speeches, scripts, briefings, presentations, and other related materials.
  • Create and implement a content strategy that highlights breakthroughs in AI research, overseeing the writing, editing, and publication of articles, videos, and social media stories.
  • Develop and oversee the AI Lab's social media strategy, managing accounts across platforms and creating targeted multimedia plans to elevate the Director's profile.
  • Collaborate with the University's Office of Communications on joint social media campaigns, ensuring cohesive messaging and maximizing reach.
  • Lead outreach efforts for AI Lab events, ensuring broad visibility and engagement, and produce and distribute the AI Lab's newsletter.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, plus at least 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Ability to create and articulate a strategic communications plan, translating technically complex topics for a general audience.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging issues in artificial intelligence research, excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Expertise in content management systems, design and editing software, and CRM tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated expertise in copywriting, copyediting, and proficiency in AP or Chicago Style.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, ability to set and meet deadlines, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
