Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist

Position Overview: Under general supervision, the MRI Imaging Specialist conducts both routine and advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations for diagnostic purposes, adhering to established protocols and guidelines. This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of radiologic technology and MRI methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in MRI, providing assistance to fellow technicians as required.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of radiation safety principles.
- Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures, ensuring adherence to established protocols for optimal image quality.
- Follow specific instructions provided by the Radiologist during imaging procedures.
- Administer contrast media in accordance with established protocols.
- Educate patients about the procedure, gather relevant medical history, and relay necessary information to the Radiologist.
- Input complex data into the hospital's computer systems.
- Review and assess images to confirm technical and diagnostic quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to MRI-related PACS systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology or MRI technology program.
- Current registration as a Technologist for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by ARRT or ARMRIT.
- Certification in venipuncture within six months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at the time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART certification within six months.
- Recent experience in a similar capacity or a new graduate from an accredited MRI technology program.
- Possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities for effective job performance.
- Proficient understanding of radiological computerized systems and applications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various radiological systems, including PACS and RIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six months of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in a hospital setting.
Special Conditions:
- Flexibility to work varying hours and locations based on operational needs.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and pre-employment physical examination.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $142,402 - $142,402 (subject to prorating based on appointment percentage)
Hourly Equivalent: $68.20
Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced is the anticipated salary or hourly range that the University expects to offer for this position, which may be broader than the actual pay based on internal equity, budget considerations, and collective bargaining agreements when applicable.
