Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality diagnostic images of the human anatomy and vasculature using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment. Under indirect supervision, you will utilize your expertise to maximize image quality and acquire images that can be utilized by physicians to diagnose disease processes and pathology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Observe all applicable Regional, Medical Center, and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process in delivering services to patients of the age group served.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provide the care needed in accordance with department policy.
  • Document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Maintain standards of professional behavior established to enhance the quality of service.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct in all interactions with patients and staff.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with department guidelines.
Essential Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interview patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain patient history, and conduct imaging screens.
  • Correlate requested exams with patient history and diagnosis.
  • Position patients as required for requested exams or use variations to ensure proper positioning of patients to the magnet isocenter.
  • Select appropriate coils for requested exams and position coils to demonstrate areas of interest and obtain maximum transmit and receive signal.
  • Obtain optimal MR imaging throughout the entire region of interest by selecting and applying imaging parameters.
  • Perform tuning procedures and utilize appropriate protocols for producing optimal images.
  • Identify and use appropriate planes for a particular exam and modify protocols as required to produce optimal images.
  • Recognize the need for additional sequences, changes in protocols, and the need for paramagnetic contrast studies based on patient pathology, physical condition, or image quality problems.
Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program in radiological technology approved by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology, as well as an on-the-job or formal training program in cross-sectional anatomy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as an MRI Technologist in an acute care medical center.
  • Computed Tomography experience.
  • Experience with GE MRI systems.
  • Additional training in the use and practices of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Advanced Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging issued by the ARRT.
  • Experience with Advantage Windows workstation.
  • Experience with PACS.
