In this role, you will operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology under minimal supervision to generate high-quality diagnostic images of various anatomical structures, including the brain, spinal cord, and other critical areas of the human body. You will be responsible for executing both standard and advanced imaging protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate medical assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Kaiser Permanente's policies, procedures, and relevant legal regulations.
- Conduct all duties in accordance with established medical center and departmental guidelines. Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages of patients to provide age-appropriate care. Accurately document clinical activities in a timely manner. Maintain professional standards to enhance service quality. Exhibit effective communication skills and professional behavior in all interactions with patients and colleagues. Ensure that equipment, supplies, and workspaces are maintained according to departmental standards.
- Clinical Duties: Engage with patients to explain MRI procedures, gather medical histories, and perform necessary screening for safety (e.g., checking for metal objects). Position patients correctly for imaging, selecting the appropriate coils and monitoring devices based on their condition. Optimize imaging parameters to achieve the best possible results, including adjusting field of view, slice thickness, and other technical settings. Identify and rectify any artifacts in images and modify protocols as needed to enhance image quality. Recognize when additional imaging sequences or contrast studies are necessary based on patient conditions.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care setting, with at least six (6) months of experience specifically in MRI.
Education: Completion of an accredited radiological technology program recognized by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology, along with formal training in cross-sectional anatomy and MRI.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California), certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of MRI principles, techniques, and patient care practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of MRI experience in an acute care environment, familiarity with GE MRI systems, and advanced certification in MRI from the ARRT.
