GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: In partnership with the Director of Endoscopy, oversee the daily operations of the Endoscopy Center. Responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission through discharge. The Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in achieving patient outcomes aligned with the facility's mission.

Provides tailored and specialized nursing care to patients within the endoscopy center, adhering to physician's orders, established nursing practices, legal requirements in the State of Georgia, and the Center's policies and procedures. Accountable for planning, executing, and assessing the nursing care provided to patients. Direct patient interaction is essential at every stage of their experience. Must demonstrate self-direction and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Administrative
  • Assess the demand for nursing care based on the schedule. Ensure the development of a staffing model that supports nursing care aligned with these demands.
  • Identify staff needs, create/modify schedules, and ensure appropriate assignments based on staff capabilities, patient requirements, and scheduling considerations.
  • Define nursing care requirements in complex scenarios and identify nursing interventions to address those needs.
  • Exhibit knowledge of policies and procedures when assigning and delivering nursing care.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with personnel handbook policies.
  • Assist in ongoing education initiatives for nursing staff.

Clinical
  • Provide guidance and consultation to nursing staff, assisting them in the application of the nursing process.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Deliver patient education.
  • Document all required forms accurately.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the physician, following the guidelines set by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Communicate and clarify both standards and policies to staff, holding them accountable for staying informed about policies and procedures.
  • Promote quality improvement in care delivery.

Interpersonal
  • Maintain open and positive communication with nursing personnel and other healthcare professionals. Conduct documented staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Engage with patients, families, and significant others.
  • Uphold professionalism within the organization.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient and personnel information.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Engage in committee work as assigned.
  • Take responsibility for performance management, consulting with Directors as necessary. Conduct performance evaluations, provide counseling, and utilize the disciplinary process as appropriate.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow and bed management.
  • Act as a professional role model: demonstrate effective listening skills and encourage team involvement in problem-solving and goal achievement.
  • Exhibit awareness of cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, motivation, and creativity as a team member.
  • Supervise RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed personnel.
  • Collaborate with the endoscopy manager, business office staff, clinical staff, and physicians.
  • Communicate effectively with Clinical and Medical Directors.
  • Must be able to successfully cross-train to perform additional tasks within the endoscopy center.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

State Licensure as RN/LPN is required; experience in surgical services and/or GI endoscopy is necessary; 2 years of management experience is preferred; BLS certification is required and ACLS certification is recommended; strong clinical assessment skills, adaptability, and basic computer skills are essential.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands Of Job

Ability to work under stress. Moderate periods of sitting and computer use. Good visual acuity. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movements, and feel sensations to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds.
