GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: In partnership with the Director of Endoscopy, oversee the daily operations of the Endoscopy Center. Responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission through discharge. The Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in achieving patient outcomes aligned with the facility's mission.

Deliver tailored and specialized nursing care to patients within the endoscopy center, adhering to physician's orders, established nursing practices, legal regulations in the State of Georgia, and the Center's policies and procedures. Accountable for the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care provided to patients, ensuring direct contact with patients throughout their care journey. Must demonstrate self-direction and the ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Administrative
  • Evaluate the necessity for nursing care based on the schedule. Ensure the creation of a staffing model that supports nursing care needs.
  • Assess staff requirements, adjust scheduling, and assign duties based on staff capabilities, patient needs, and scheduling demands.
  • Identify nursing care requirements in complex scenarios and determine appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Exhibit knowledge of policies and procedures when delegating and administering nursing care.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with personnel handbook policies.
  • Support ongoing education initiatives for nursing staff.

Clinical
  • Provide guidance and consultation to nursing personnel, assisting them in the application of the nursing process.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Deliver patient education.
  • Complete documentation as required.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the physician, following the guidelines of the State Board of Nursing.
  • Communicate and clarify standards and policies to staff, holding them accountable for maintaining current knowledge of procedures.
  • Promote quality improvement in patient care delivery.

Interpersonal
  • Foster open and positive communication with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals. Conduct documented staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Engage with patients, families, and significant others.
  • Uphold professionalism within the organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient and personnel information.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Engage in committee work as assigned.
  • Take responsibility for performance management, consulting with Directors as necessary. Conduct performance evaluations, provide counseling, and utilize the disciplinary process as appropriate.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow and bed management.
  • Act as a professional role model: demonstrate effective listening skills and encourage team involvement in problem-solving and goal achievement.
  • Exhibit awareness of cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, motivation, and creativity as a team member.
  • Supervise RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed personnel.
  • Collaborate with the endoscopy manager, business office staff, clinical personnel, and physicians.
  • Communicate effectively with Clinical and Medical Directors.
  • Must be able to successfully cross-train for additional responsibilities within the endoscopy center.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

State Licensure as RN/LPN is required; experience in surgical services and/or GI endoscopy is essential; a minimum of 2 years of management experience is preferred; BLS certification is required, and ACLS certification is recommended; strong clinical assessment skills, adaptability, and basic computer proficiency are necessary.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands Of Job

Ability to work under pressure. Moderate periods of sitting and computer usage. Good visual acuity. Capability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, and utilize fine motor skills to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds.
