Role Summary:

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Controller with various accounting responsibilities at ICAST. This encompasses construction and grant project accounting, payroll processing, account analysis, variance analysis, and monthly financial reporting. The position involves close collaboration with the Controller to monitor and enhance financial performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledgers, payroll, and financial reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in construction-related accounting functions.
  • Prior experience in an accounting role within a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly M365 (Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, research, and follow-up skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to oversee and assess the financial status of projects and grants, ensuring accurate allocation of personnel and costs for payroll.
  • Generate monthly reports comparing budgeted versus actual figures, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the monthly and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and adapt to changes.

Goals:

  • Maintain awareness of critical deadlines.
  • Review and enhance accounting practices for improved efficiency and accountability.
  • Ensure timely execution of month-end closing schedules.
  • Develop improved reporting methods and information dissemination across the organization.
  • Create and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for variance reporting.
