Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team at Physicians East. As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a critical role in coordinating incoming and outgoing referrals, answering department phone calls, and scheduling patient follow-up appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate outgoing referrals to offices both inside and outside of Physicians East.
- Complete and send Request for Referral Appointment Authorizations to Managed Care Representative.
- Notify patient of referred appointment date and time.
- Coordinate and schedule patient follow-up appointments.
- Follow through to verify appointment was kept and report to referring provider.
- Answer multi-line phones, transfer calls, and successfully operate a fax machine.
- Work department reports (no-show appointments, patient recalls).
- Schedule and coordinate hospital procedures for providers.
- Maintain the providers schedules within the department.
- Work as a contributing member of a team to keep departments running smoothly.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates Degree preferred in related field and at least 2 years of experience in medical office position or specialization required.
Key Skills and Personal Characteristics:
- Must display a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and initiative.
- Must be able to work well under stress, tight deadlines, and fast-paced environment.
- Must have a strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback.
- Ability to form positive and collaborative relationships with peers and physicians at all levels within the company.
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills and can create a favorable impression for the organization to all staff, patients, and the public.
- Must possess strong organizational and excellent communication skills as well as being highly motivated and detail oriented.
Computer Software Utilized: NextGen and Centricity EMR.
