As a certified law enforcement officer in Virginia, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our healthcare environment.

Eligible for Sign-On Bonus

Your responsibilities will encompass providing professional law enforcement services within the Carilion Clinic. This includes upholding the Clinic's objectives, maintaining peace, safeguarding lives and property, preventing criminal activities, and enforcing relevant laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and investigate suspicious activities by responding to calls and patrolling the facilities for security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with external law enforcement agencies during their interactions with hospital services, visitors, patients, or staff.
  • Provide security for individuals in custody, mental health patients, special events, dignitaries, and staff as needed.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all service calls involving traffic, criminal, or non-criminal incidents, as well as requests for assistance.
  • Enforce laws, conduct investigations, and manage crime scene protocols.
  • Direct traffic and monitor parking regulations.
  • Complete and submit all required reports in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: While no prior experience is necessary, previous law enforcement or security experience is advantageous.

Licensure/Certification: Must meet Virginia's minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and hold current certification from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. A valid Virginia driver's license is also required.

Additional Requirements: A driving record that complies with Carilion's Driver Regulations is essential. Applicants must be at least 21 years old due to state law. Proficiency in computer keyboarding and strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary. Candidates must meet Virginia's minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
