Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with principal investigators to prepare the administrative elements of research proposals, ensuring compliance with both sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Develop and finalize project budgets, providing detailed budget justifications.
  • Act as a liaison between principal investigators, the Office of Sponsored Research, and various departments, addressing inquiries from sponsors.
  • Work closely with the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure proper setup of awards and adherence to cost-sharing requirements.
  • Review expenditures and provide guidance on post-award financial management, ensuring compliance with funding regulations.
  • Generate and communicate reports that reflect project status, assisting in effective forecasting and decision-making.
  • Participate in the contract closeout process, submitting final reports and compiling necessary documentation for audits.
  • Advise on university and governmental policies related to research projects.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for principal investigators and university staff.
  • Contribute to process improvements and mentor junior staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree combined with three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with governmental regulations and the ability to interpret and communicate policies effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and web-based tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in pre- and post-award research administration.
  • Knowledge of Stanford's administrative and financial systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
