Job Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vehicle Maintenance Specialist is tasked with the assessment, upkeep, and repair of various light machinery, trucks, sewer cleaning vehicles, dump trucks, and both automotive and heavy-duty equipment across diverse types, brands, and models.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and both minor and extensive repairs on a wide range of vehicles, trucks, and equipment, including gas, diesel, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, vacuum systems, and water pumps of varying sizes.
- Interprets technical manuals and schematics, including wiring and hydraulic diagrams, to facilitate the repair of all equipment types.
- Records all maintenance and repair activities meticulously.
- Adheres to safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
- Performs additional tasks as required.
- This role operates under general supervision.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of gas/diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, and various types of vehicles including trucks and sewer truck vacuum systems.
- Possession of a valid Class CDL-A Texas Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Certification as a Texas Department of Public Safety Vehicle Inspector (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in attendance and adherence to work schedules.
- Automotive Service Excellence Certifications.
- Certification in automotive technology or a related field.
- Forklift certification.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work at various maintenance facilities.
Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in activities such as pushing, pulling, carrying, balancing, sitting, standing, climbing stairs, sustained bending, crawling, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods. Working conditions may involve exposure to outdoor elements, including varying weather conditions, high noise levels, hazardous materials, and challenging terrains.
Flexibility in working hours may be required, including shifts outside of regular daytime hours.
