Position Title: Adjunct Faculty in Biology
Department Overview:
The University of North Texas at Dallas is seeking applications for the role of Adjunct Faculty in Biology. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience within the Department of Natural Sciences. UNT Dallas provides a distinctive opportunity for faculty to contribute to the development of a modern, student-centered urban university.
Role Summary:
The number of available positions will be determined by student enrollment, departmental requirements, and administrative approval. Applications will only be considered once all necessary documentation has been submitted.
As an adjunct faculty member, responsibilities include planning and delivering courses, as well as assessing educational objectives and student outcomes. The successful candidate will fulfill the duties associated with part-time faculty, which includes holding office hours. Instruction will primarily focus on General Biology and advanced Biology courses, including associated laboratory sessions (e.g., Microbiology and its lab). Additional opportunities may arise to teach lecture courses in Earth Science and Environmental Science aimed at non-majors.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Biology with exceptional teaching experience in introductory Biology courses OR
- A Master's degree in Science Education with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Biology and notable teaching experience in introductory science courses.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Biology with substantial experience in higher education.
- Proven success in teaching adult learners in a post-secondary environment.
- Strong communication skills in diverse cultural settings.
- Experience in teaching and developing online courses.
