Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance department, guiding the team to complete various projects efficiently and safely. This role involves collaboration with other engineers and technicians to review designs, estimate costs, negotiate contracts, and implement plans. The Engineering Manager ensures the safety of guests, staff, and vendors by overseeing all property systems and maintenance operations. Compliance with preventative maintenance programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and relevant building, fire, and health regulations is essential, alongside a commitment to maintaining energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the hotel's mission and standards in all maintenance tasks.
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the maintenance team, balancing operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, employee morale, and owner expectations.
  • Represent the engineering department in daily meetings.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise engineering staff to ensure timely task completion.
  • Oversee maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Promptly address and resolve guest maintenance requests, delivering professional service.
  • Maintain the hotel's physical condition and operational efficiency, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Supervise the installation and upkeep of HVAC, ETAC, water treatment, fire safety, and other systems.
  • Ensure accurate records for all equipment, including repair and service histories.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in all mechanical areas.
  • Participate in Facility Management meetings, sharing relevant information with the maintenance team.
  • Ensure proper equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to meet safety and operational standards.
  • Manage inventory levels for equipment and supplies, providing training on inventory management.
  • Train staff on maintenance procedures and assist with repairs as necessary.
  • Monitor and test the hotel's emergency systems.
  • Discuss maintenance status with management and respond to inquiries.
  • Develop and implement energy conservation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on outstanding issues.
  • Ensure maintenance staff adhere to grooming standards.
  • Manage service quality, achieve financial objectives, and oversee day-to-day operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all maintenance personnel.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within hotel engineering.
  • Skills:
    • Strong command of the English language.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Outstanding customer service abilities.
    • Proficient in mathematical calculations.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Effective problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle feedback professionally.
    • Proficient in property management systems and relevant software.
