Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Human Resources Executive and Leadership Strategist to join our team.

The HR Executive is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive policies and procedures related to human capital management, talent acquisition, compliance with regulations, compensation structures, benefits administration, employee relations, training programs, performance evaluation, and leadership development.

This role is crucial in fostering a workplace culture that promotes employee engagement, growth, and alignment with organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities


1. Formulate, execute, and revise policies and procedures pertaining to human resources, including recruitment, compensation, labor relations, and employee development.

2. Cultivate a positive work environment that enhances employee morale, collaboration, and dedication to the company’s strategic vision.

3. Oversee compliance with legal requirements and governmental regulations impacting human resources, ensuring that all policies and training programs meet these standards.

4. Provide necessary training for supervisors to ensure effective management of their teams.

5. Address and resolve employee relations issues, including conducting investigations as required.

6. Manage the employee performance evaluation system to ensure fairness and effectiveness across the organization.

7. Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract high-quality candidates and facilitate a smooth onboarding process.

8. Maintain a secure and confidential system for managing personnel records, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy.

9. Analyze employee turnover data to identify trends and implement strategies for retention.

10. Ensure that job descriptions are current and accurately reflect the roles within the organization.

11. Conduct exit interviews to gather insights for organizational improvement.

12. Represent the organization in personnel-related hearings and investigations.

13. Develop and maintain an Employee Handbook that encompasses all relevant company policies.

14. Stay informed on current HR trends and regulatory changes through professional development and networking.

15. Regularly assess employee satisfaction and identify areas for enhancement.

16. Collaborate with management to ensure equitable handling of personnel matters in accordance with company policies and legal standards.

17. Promote open communication throughout the organization by maintaining an accessible presence in employee work areas.

18. Partner with the CEO to facilitate talent review and succession planning initiatives.

19. Design and implement compensation strategies that align with performance metrics and include incentive programs.

20. Lead initiatives focused on Organizational Effectiveness, Leadership, and Talent Development to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.

21. Chair the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Committee, educating employees on the value of ESOP and updating the Board on committee activities.

22. Supervise HR staff to ensure a comprehensive benefits package that serves as both a recruitment and retention tool.

23. Develop and promote wellness initiatives aimed at improving workforce health and reducing insurance costs.

24. Ensure that safety remains a top priority and that all employees adhere to corporate safety standards.

25. Collaborate with the Safety Director to manage the drug testing program for employees.

26. Provide medical case management for employee injuries to ensure proper care and minimize severity.


Additional Responsibilities


Perform other duties as assigned and participate in community engagement activities to enhance the company’s presence.

Serve on the Executive Leadership Team and Foundation Committee, ensuring consistent attendance and participation.


Qualifications


1. A minimum of 10 years of experience in a management role within human resources, with prior experience as a Human Resources Director or Manager preferred.

2. A relevant 4-year degree is required; PHR certification is mandatory, while SPHR certification is preferred.

3. In-depth knowledge of employment laws and best practices.

4. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with management, employees, and external stakeholders.

5. Proficiency in talent development tools and methodologies.

6. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.


Physical Requirements


1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

2. Willingness to travel as needed.

3. Flexibility to work outside of standard hours when necessary.

4. Capability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.

5. A valid driver's license is required.
